Abstract

13 03 2008

No wonder it’s call and ‘abstract’, I think Adrian’s overview of writing these four sentences was fairly ‘abstract’ to me. I found Booth’s (..I want to research… because to find out…. in order to help my reader understand…) so much simpler than “why is the problem a problem”.

However, after much mulling and scribbling, this is my launching pad for 2008.

There is a problematic relationship between producer and subject in traditional practices of media production, often tangled with competing motivations. This is an ethically challenges producers who are ‘outsiders’ who may further objectify communities. Uses of alternative practices and new technologies could change the dynamics of that relationship. More inclusive, consultative and participatory practices would offer communities ownership of narratives.

I’m worried about the word ‘offer’ in the final sentence, should it be ‘recognise’?

Anyway, I think its still pretty pliable.

[...] appears I wrote the previous abstract based on what I hope to explore in my exegesis; that is, the research to inform my project work. [...]
